Sports Medicine Training / Experience

From Dr. Theut:

"As a former high school athlete and current avid skier and runner, I fully understand the important role that athletics can play in one's life. I also recognize the anguish caused by serious injury and how important it is to receive timely, quality care and rehabilitation to speed recovery and facilitate return to an active lifestyle or competition.

I completed an additional year of training following my Orthopaedic Surgery Residency in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the University of Connecticut under the direction of Dr. John Fulkerson, who remains a national leader in the field. I have been a team physician for the Grand Rapids Griffins since I started practice in the year 2000 and I also served as a team physician for the AFL Grand Rapids Rampage until the franchise dissolved. I continue to serve as a consultant for a variety of local high school and college athletes.

Please take time to browse the Stop Sports Injuries website. It is a great resource and reminder that our young athletes need appropriate rest and time off from the ever growing world of youth sports."
